PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of reducing the fuel consumption when nobody exists. SOLUTION: The air conditioner is equipped with an air conditioning means to perform air conditioning operation and a timer operation controlling means to start the air conditioning operation by the air conditioning means at the starting time set on a timer and ends the operation at the ending time set on the timer, wherein the arrangement further includes a human body sensor to sense existence of any person in the room where the air conditioner is installed and a controlling means to prohibit the air conditioning operation when the sensor judges that nobody exists during the timer operation. The controlling means releases the prohibition of the air conditioning operation when the sensor determines that somebody exists during the timer operation after the prohibition.
