<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catheter with a narrow diameter, flexible and hardly stretchable and with a smooth and flat inner surface, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The catheter has an inner layer made of thermoplastic polymers substantially not oriented in the longitudinal direction of the catheter and an outer layer made of thermoplastic polymers drawn and oriented to be disposed outside the inner layer. A tube consists of at least two layers; an inner layer made of the thermoplastic polymers forming the surface of a lumen and an outer layer made of thermoplastic polymers, whose melting point is higher than the thermoplastic polymer of the inner layer, to be disposed outside the inner layer. The method provided here is for manufacturing the catheter by heat-setting the catheter and the tube at a temperature higher than the melting point of the inner layer and lower than the melting point of the outer layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
