PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for simply and accurately forming recessed parts, in a PDP composed by forming the recessed parts in a dielectric layer for covering discharge electrodes. SOLUTION: A dielectric material layer 104A formed, on a front glass plate 102 with the discharge electrodes for generating discharge formed, so as to cover the discharge electrodes is pressed by a die 1 to form the recessed parts 2 on the surface of the material layer 104A, and the dielectric layer 104 having the recessed parts 2 is formed by baking the material layer 104A. Thereby, the recessed parts 2 is accurately and rapidly formed in the dielectric layer 104. Complicated manufacturing control such as waste solution disposal is not required as compared with a chemical formation method such as etching. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
