<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source unit and a display device using this wherein light condensing characteristic damaged due to refraction when light beam passes through a lamp bulb in utilizing the light beam outgoing from the lamp, is improved. <P>SOLUTION: In the light source unit 11 provided with a lamp 2 and a reflector 1 for condensing the beam outgoing from a light emitting part 2s of this lamp 2, the beam in which an extension line of the beam outgoing from the surface of the lamp bulb 21 to the light emitting part 2s side passes through the light emitting part 2s, is taken as the standard beam a, and the intersection of an ellipse E having the light emitting part 2s and a desired condensing part Q as two foci and the standard beam a is taken as a boundary part B. The reflector 1 is formed in a shape which is obtained when a curve, that is attained if a part farther than the boundary part B of the ellipse E from a light axis is shifted in either positive or negative direction of the light axis x, and a nearer part to the light axis X than the boundary part B is shifted in the opposite direction against this, is rotated around the light axis x. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
