PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masking material, by which alignment for attachment work in application of a surface treatment to an article is facilitated, and an accurate partition line can be obtained. SOLUTION: The masking material 3a is made of a synthetic resin sheet, and formed in a shape applicable to the shape of a to-be-masked part 1b made of a magnetic material. In an edge 11b of resin sheet, a folding part 34a is provided to be folded to the rear side of the to-be-masked part 1b. In the folding 34a, a magnet 41 for partition is provided to be magnetically attached onto the rear of the to-be-masked part 1b. The masking material 3a, with the magnet 41 attached to the return folding part 34a, protects a masked part surely without lifting from the masked part.
