The invention concerns a device and a method for detecting the nature of a blow and for measuring its force. Such a device comprises a sensor (A) and a sensor (B) integral with a moving body (5) associated with a target (2) optionally moving, said sensor (B) operating to indicate whether the moving body (5) grazes the target (2) or hits same. The invention is characterized in that the moving body comprises a material highly permeable to a magnetic field and in that the target (2) comprises means for generating a magnetic field in its vicinity, the magnetic properties of the target (2) being detected by using a magnetic field detector. The invention is useful for refereeing a combat sport.
