PURPOSE: A device and method for automatically setting a data transmission state by a card insertion recognition is provided to reduce a redundancy of a memory card controller by constituting information for a card recognition using a hardware in the case that only one memory card is inserted, thereby removing an unnecessary preliminary operation. CONSTITUTION: In the case that a card is inserted into a socket, a card insertion recognition unit(721) receives an insertion signal from a terminal of the socket combined with a terminal of the card and recognizes an insertion of a card. In the case that card insertion recognition unit(721) recognizes the insertion of a card, a card assignment information receiving unit(722) receives card assignment information from a driver of the card. A data transmission state automatically setting unit(723) automatically sets a data transmission state as to the card based on the card assignment information. In the case that the data transmission state is set and the card insertion recognition unit(721) recognizes a release of the card, a data transmission state releasing unit(724) informs the release to the driver of the card, and a data transmission state is released.
