<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record data on a DVD-R and a DVD-RAM. <P>SOLUTION: An optical disk 10 is irradiated with a laser beam containing main and sub beams from an optical pickup 12, and a tracking error signal is generated by a differential push-pull method. When a DVD-R and a DVD-RAM are used as optical disks 10, a space in a track width direction between the main beam and the sub beam is set roughly equal to 1.85 μm. Thus, even for the DVD-RAM in which a distance between the land and the groove is 0.615 μm and the DVD-R in which the distance between the land and the groove is 0.37 μm, the main beam and the sub beam are radiated to enable differential push-pull. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
