PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst composed of a granulated material extremely readily carrying out filtration and washing and a particle diameter distribution with good reproducibility and having a high activity. SOLUTION: The olefin polymerization catalyst comprises the granulated material (C) produced from an ion exchangeable layer compound (A) and a silica sol (B) and a chelate complex and/or a metallocene complex (D) of a group 4-10 transition metal of the periodic table.
