PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vegetable cultivation mat having excellent water retainability, water absorbency, excess water-draining property and air permeability for roots and mainly applicable to greening of artificial grounds made of concrete, asphalt or the like, gardens, parks, athletic fields such as a golf course, a soccer stadium and a tennis court. SOLUTION: The fibrous cubic assembly obtained by dispersing binder fibers 24 and fertilizer particles 26 in fibers 22 containing polyester synthetic fibers is heated to melt the binder fibers 24, pressed and cooled to solidify the binder fibers 24 so as to bind the fibers each other, to form many cavities among the fibers and to form a fiber mat 20. Many through holes 34 are uniformly formed on the upper surface of a support body 30. Props 36 are formed below intersection points of support parts 32. Each space between the lower ends of the props 36 and the support parts 32, except each prop 36, forms space forming areas 38. The fiber mat 20 is set on and connected to the upper surface of the support body 30 with an adhesive to make a plant grown on the fiber mat 20 stretch roots into the space forming areas 38 through the through holes 34.
