PURPOSE: Provided is a method for making an exfoliated nitro-polymer/silicate nanocomposite having a light weight and excellent thermal and mechanical properties by a simple process in a large amount. CONSTITUTION: The method for making an exfoliated nitro-polymer/silicate nanocomposite by an emulsion polymerization comprises the steps of: carrying out the emulsion polymerization of a monomer from which the nitro-polymer is formed and a non-modified layered silicate, in the presence of a reactive emulsifier having both a radically polymerizable vinyl group and a functional group having the affinity to the silicate. Preferably, the monomer is acrylonitrile.
