HOME-IN CONTROL METHOD AND APPARATUS IN DISC DRIVE

PURPOSE: A home-in control method and apparatus in a disc drive are provided to accurately control a home-in mode in consideration of the position of a pick-up on the basis of the number of driving pulses of a slide transfer motor. CONSTITUTION: A home-in control apparatus of a disc drive includes a pick-up(102), a motor(106), and a controller(108). The pick-up irradiates lights on a disc(101) mounted on the disc drive. The motor moves the pick-up in the direction of the diameter of the disc. The controller detects and stores the position of the pick-up on the basis of a driving pulse of the motor and, when a home-in mode is set, controls the generation of the driving pulse of the motor using the position information of the pick-up and home-in position information based on the driving pulse.
