Polynucleotides and associated polypeptides for KGF-2 (also known as Fibroblast Growth Factor 12) to promote and accelerate internal and external wound healing

Described are newly identified polynucleotides, polypeptides encoded by such polynucleotides, the use of such polynucleotides and polypeptides, as well as their production. More particularly, the polypeptide is a mutant form of Keratinocyte Growth Factor,(KGF-2) also formerly known as Fibroblast Growth Factor 12 (FGF-12) that shows enhanced activity, increased stability, higher yield or better solubility. Further described are the therapeutic uses of KGF-2 to promote or accelerate wound healing.
