METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SPECIFYING ACCIDENT SPOT IN BRANCH CABLE LINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of and an apparatus for specifying an accident spot in a complex multi-branch cable line having repeated branches at low cost. SOLUTION: A surge current (an accident signal) based on discharge is generated at an accident spot x. After the elapse of a predetermined delay time from the arrival of the surge current at a master station apparatus 7, a separate surge current (a master station signal) is generated at the master station apparatus 7. The difference of the times when the accident signal and the master station signal arrive at each slave station apparatus 8, 8 is measured. Based on the difference of the times for each slave station apparatus 8, 8 and the delay time, the position of the accident spot x is identified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
