<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image frame number reducer and its method, which reduce the loss of continuity of image contents apt to occur for the scenes having large movements in reducing the image frame number of input image signals. <P>SOLUTION: A control information former 4 forms control information SC, showing the image frames to be extracted from input image signals IM and extraction intervals thereof, based on the mean value of relative motion vectors MV on attractive regions detected by an attractive region detector 3. A small frame number image signal former 5 extracts image frames, indicating the control information SC from the input image signals IM at intervals indicating the control information SC every cut, based on cut information CI and target frame number information TF inputted from outside and on the control information SC inputted from the control information former 4, and forms small frame number image signals LM, having a reduced frame number of the image signals IM. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
