<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress consumption of a battery to a minimum and to transmit a location of a vehicle to an owner or the like even after the lapse of a long period by operating a location information acquiring means at the point when the moving object is stolen and moved when stopping a main motive force and the completion of the movement is determined later in a theft detection apparatus for the moving object. <P>SOLUTION: When it is determined by a state decision means 13 that an automobile 1 is stolen and stopped at present based upon a signal outputted from a state detecting means 11 or a time measuring means 12, a theft detection apparatus 10 electrifies and raises a location information acquisition means 14 and a communication means 15 for the first time, the location information acquisition means 14 acquires the location of the automobile 1 from a location information providing means 50, and theft notice information containing the acquired location information is transmitted to the owner or the like outside of the automobile 1 by the communication means 15.
