PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread winder which can reduce a burden on calculation of rotation speed. SOLUTION: The number of rotations N1 of a motor is calculated per edge of a drum pulse. Also, by dividing frequency of the drum pulse, the number of rotations N2 of the motor is calculated per edge of the frequency-divided pulse. When the number of rotations N2 is a threshold value Th or less (zone TA, TC), the number of rotations N1 without frequency division is made as a monitor rotational number. When the number of rotations N2 is a threshold value Th1 or more (zone TB), the number of rotations N2 with frequency division is determined as the monitor rotational number. In the zone TB, the number of rotations N1 is not made as the monitor rotational number, and since the number of rotations N1 is not compared with the threshold value Th, calculation operation of the number of rotations N1 is stopped.
