PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate wasteful space during nonuse of a hotplate in a kitchen and utilize it as cooking or arrangement space, and to hide fouling of a hotplate periphery and to contrive beautify a kitchen periphery. SOLUTION: The gas hotplate of a custom kitchen is lower several centimeters than a present condition, and it is used embedded in a top plate. During nonuse, a plate covering the hotplate is placed on a grate of the hotplate. A plate surface is installed so that it is coplanar with the top plate. The plate can be opened and closed by a fitting, and it can be erected in a hotplate rear part. When the plate is closed, the fouling of the hotplate is hidden, its top face can be used as a fully flat effective space, and the kitchen is beautified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
