SHEET-LIKE IRON OXYHYDROXIDE, IRON OXIDE, MAGNETITE, AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like iron oxide useful for raw materials for sheet-like ferrite magnetic materials using form anisotropy, sheet-like pigments for anticorrosive coatings having a high ultraviolet ray shielding effect, and pigments having glossiness and blackness. SOLUTION: When iron oxyhydroxide is precipitated from an iron salt solution at normal pressure, it is precipitated as a polycrystal film having almost uniform crystalline directions, and stripped to obtain sheet-like particles of iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH). Sheet-like iron oxide (Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4) are obtained by heating, dehydration, and reduction and oxidation as needed under conditions for holding the shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
