<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum titanate sintered compact of which improves mechanical strength and can be stably used even under a high temperature, while maintaining the primary characteristics that the coefficient of thermal expansion is small and corrosion resistance is satisfactory. <P>SOLUTION: A compact, which is formed from a mixture of raw materials prepared by blending 1-10 parts by weight of alkali feldspar indicated by the chemical formula :(Na<SB>x</SB>K<SB>1-x</SB>)AlSi<SB>3</SB>O<SB>8</SB>(0≤x≤1) and 1-10 parts by weight of at least one kind of the ingredient chosen from the group consisting of a spinel structured oxide containing Mg, MgCO<SB>3</SB>and MgO to 100 parts by weight of a mixture consisting of 40-50 mol% TiO<SB>2</SB>and 60-50 mol% AL<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3,</SB>is baked at a temperature of 1,300-1,700°C to make the aluminum titanate sintered compact. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
