PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cataplasm exhibiting good releasability and transdermal absorption of a medicine, and good adhesiveness, and having a polyhydric alcoholic adhesive composition. SOLUTION: The exothermic cataplasm has the hydrophilic polyhydric alcoholic adhesive composition containing exothermic particles which generate heat by moisture absorption, and the medicine. Preferably, the exothermic particle is a compound having (-10)-(200) kJmol<SP>-1</SP>hydration enthalpy at room temperature (25°C). The releasability and the transdermal absorption of the medicine are improved by the local heat generation in the adhesive by the exothermic particles caused by the absorption of water from open air or the skin.
