The device comprises a suction unit with which the separated free end (8) of the flexible decoration material (4) is taken in. The decoration material is cut by a cutting unit (3). The free end of the flexible decoration material is preferably sucked into the suction unit, removed and disposed of. The cutting unit is preferably an ultrasonic sonotrode. An independent claim is also included for the method of trimming and cutting workpieces.
