PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device and a driving method for office appliances capable of saving manufacturing costs by reducing the number of component parts and simplifying a structure and also preventing a problem with the lowering of quality by the use of power switching members. SOLUTION: This driving device for the office appliances comprises a sheet feed unit 113 picking up and feeding a document D, a conveying unit 115 conveying the fed document D, a sheet delivery unit 121 delivering the document D, and a drive unit 130 driving the sheet feed unit, conveying unit 115, and sheet delivery unit 121. The drive unit 130 comprises a drive motor 131 rotated in both directions, a power transmission part transmitting the power of the drive motor so that the conveying unit 115 and the sheet delivery unit 121 can be operated in a direction different from the document conveying direction of the sheet feed unit 113 to arrange the tips of, convey, and deliver the document D, and a control part to control the drive motor.
