PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt breakage detection device in a belt conveyor apparatus capable of easily detecting the longitudinal breakage of the belt and increasing the reliability and maintainability thereof. SOLUTION: This belt conveyor apparatus having a chute for guiding the falling of a carried object on the belt of the belt conveyor comprises a detection device 6 installed between the carrying side 2a and return side 2b of the belt under the chute 3 for detecting the presence or absence of the falling of the carried object and a control device 7 controlling the belt conveyor so as to stop the drive motor 2d of the belt conveyor according to detection signals from the detection device 6.
