PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical multilayer film filter having band-pass characteristics adaptable to optical communication. SOLUTION: The optical multilayer film filter is provided with: a cavity structural body having cavity structure where a plurality of laminated bodies obtained by alternately laminating a 1st optical medium layer and a 2nd optical medium layer are connected through a cavity layer and constituted so that the 1st column of the 1st row, the 2nd column of the 1st row, the 1st column of the 2nd row and the 2nd column of the 2nd row of the matrix components of a characteristic matrix in design wavelengthλare 1, 0, 0 and 1, respectively; and an additive layer laminated on the cavity structural body and consisting of at least one layer of the 1st optical medium layer and the 2nd optical medium layer. When the refractive indexes of a 1st optical medium and a 2nd optical medium are defined as n<SB>L</SB>and n<SB>H</SB>, the 1st column of the 1st row, the 2nd column of the 1st row, the 1st column of the 2nd row and the 2nd column of the 2nd row of the matrix components of the characteristic matrix of the optical multilayer film filter consisting of the cavity structural body and the additive layer are 0, i×(1/n<SB>L</SB>), i×(n<SB>L</SB>) and 0, respectively.
