PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify a combustion state in a fluidized bed boiler in further real time. SOLUTION: This sampling device has a sampling pipe 1 comprising a substantially vertical first vertical pipe section 1a communicating with the bottom of the fluidized bed B, a horizontal pipe section 1b in a substantially horizontal state communicating with the first vertical pipe section 1a, and a substantially vertical second vertical pipe section 1c communicating with the horizontal pipe section 1b. The sampling device also has cooling means 5 and 5A for supplying, into the first vertical pipe section 1a, gas for refrigeration in a suppressed state of interference of a bed material X in the fluidized bed boiler A with the fluidization, a sampling valve 2 connected to the other end of the sampling pipe, a storing section 3 of which one end is connected to the sampling valve, and an exhaust valve 4 connected to the other end of the storing section 3. The sampling device also has bed material pressing means 6 and 6A for pressing the bed material X remaining in the horizontal pipe section from the first vertical pipe section 1a side to the second vertical pipe section side, and a control device 7 for controlling the cooling gas suuplying means 5 and 5A, sampling valve 2, bed material pressing means 6 and 6A, and exhaust valve 4 to discharge the bed material X.
