PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-frequency lighting device capable of suppressing the peak of a current generated at preheat starting and lighting starting by the use of a comparatively simple structure. SOLUTION: The high-frequency lighting device is provided with discharge lamp loads 4, 6 including a discharge lamp 24, and a high-frequency inverter circuit 2 inputting a high-frequency voltage to the discharge lamp loads 4, 6. At preheating, the high-frequency inverter circuit 2 preheats the discharge lamp 24 with a high preheating frequency higher than a normal preheating frequency for normal preheating, and then, preheats the discharge lamp 24 with the normal preheating frequency, and at lighting, lights the discharge lamp 24 with a high lighting frequency higher than a normal lighting frequency for normal lighting, and then, the discharge lamp is lighted with the normal lighting frequency.
