A 5-layered pigment has the following plate layers in sequence: (a) 0.1-50 Micro thick SnO 2; (b) 10-800 mu rutile TiO 2; (c) a colorless 20-800 mu layer with refractive index =1.8; (d) a layer as per (A); and (e) a layer as per (B); and optionally also (f) an external protective layer. An independent claim is also included for preparation of the pigment.
