<p>The fuel injection system has a pressure booster (10) before a fuel injector with a high pressure chamber (18) that subjects a nozzle chamber enclosing an injection valve element to very high pressure fuel and a piston (12;13,14) that carries out a linear motion in the high pressure chamber. The method involves inductively or optically detecting piston movement with a measurement element (40) in the working chamber (16) of the pressure booster. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a device for implementing the inventive method.</p> |
