A polyester film (I) comprises at least one layer of a thermoplastic polymer containing at least one layer silicate whereby the intensity of the X-ray diffraction, measured using the thermpplastic polymer used in the mixture (II) has a maximum at a diffraction angle, 2theta of 0 [deg] which monotonically decreases with increasing theta . Independent claims are included for: (1) the polymer mixture (II) and; (2) a process for the production of a polyester film (I) by production of a single or multi-layer film by (co)extrusion and forming the melt to a flat melt film, biaxially stretching the film and thermofixing the stretched film.
