PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval system for enabling a user to easily and efficiently perform retrieval again by easily returning to a desired retrieval image and efficiently using a retrieval history display on the image. SOLUTION: When the user selects one of items displayed on the image, the selected display information on the image is stored in a retrieval history storage part 14, and retrieval part 12 retrieves a database 11 internally and sends retrieved data to an image generation part 13. The retrieval history storage part 14 sends retrieval history information to the image generation part 13, and the image generation part 13 displays the extracted data and the retrieval history information on a display part 2. When the user selects a history item of the retrieval history information with an inputting means 3 here, the retrieval history storage part 14 sends a selection image with the hierarchy of the selected history item to the image generation part 13, and the display part 2 redisplays the selection image of the hierarchy of the selected history item.
