FIELD: plastic metal working, namely cold upsetting tools, possibly manufacture of rod type articles. SUBSTANCE: die includes inlet, working and guiding cavities. Working cavity has shaping land and transition zone from inlet cavity until shaping land. Surface of transition zone is concave along radius and it is joined with surface of shaping land along tangent surface inclined by angle 30 - 60 degrees relative to surface of shaping land. Joining piece of tangent surface of transition zone is in range 0.1 - 1 mm. Radius of generatrix of concave surface is determined according to given mathematical relation.
