PURPOSE: A bead designing method for a vehicle body panel is provided to improve the strength of the panel and torsion rigidity by forming beads in the panel, and to prevent lowering of weight by regulating the number of beads. CONSTITUTION: A bead dummy panel is formed by detecting a fragile portion of a vehicle body panel to torsion rigidity as normal mode condition with the infinite element method. The bead dummy panel is partitioned into bead elements being different in size, and fragile portions are sorted from the weakest portion to the weaker portion in order to the panel. The shape of the bead is formed in the panel according to the sensitivity analysis after removing the bead dummy panel, and the satisfaction of torsion rigidity on the panel is decided in the normal mode with the infinite element method. The bead is formed with height, width and length corresponding to torsion rigidity of the panel, and finished by a press die.
