<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can enhance an environmental protection effect by supplying a power in an energy-saving mode operation from a power source that dose not worsen the environment. <P>SOLUTION: The power source consists of a commercial power supply 14 and a solar cell 13 which is preferentially used in the energy-saving mode operation. The power of the solar cell 13 is supplied to only an operation panel section 20 which is in an active condition during the setting of the energy-saving mode and an insufficient power detecting/control circuit 16 inspects whether or not a sufficient power can be supplied from the solar cell 13. When the power is insufficient, an SW(2) 24 is turned on and the power is supplied from the commercial power supply 14 through a supplying circuit 23. In the case where back light is provided to the operation panel section, an SW(3) 21 for stopping the supply of the power to a back-light power supply circuit 19 in the energy-saving mode operation is provided so that it is possible to select an operation for enhancing the energy-saving effect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
