PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutter abnormality detection device for a camera, which detects a failure of a shutter such as unexposure by a simple method. SOLUTION: The camera having the shutter provided with a front blind and a back blind which run under electrical control, comprises: a front-blind run detection means (front-blind run completion detection part 101) which outputs a signal indicative of the completion of the run of the front blind; a back-blind run detection means (back-blind run completion detection part 102) which outputs a signal indicative of the completion of the run of the back blind; and a shutter abnormality determination means (blind abnormal run determination part 103) which detects a signal state of one of the front-blind run detection means (front-blind run completion detection part 101) and the back-blind run detection means (back-blind run completion detection part 102) in synchronization with the signal indicative of the completion of the run of the other, and which, based upon the result of the detection, determines whether the shutter is in an abnormal state or not.
