DOOR INVASION PREVENTING STRUCTURE FOR AUTOMOBILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent invasion of a door into a vehicle compartment side by surely performing a mating action with an end part of a door guard bar at the moment of a side collision occurrence. SOLUTION: A rear side door 8 is deformed in the compartment side caused by a side collision. The rear end part of the door guard bar 9 is received in a recess 11 of a sill reinforcement 7. In the sill reinforcement 7 the deformation is accelerated with an opening 12 forming section provided in the recess 11 as a starting point through a collision force input, and the deformation level in the periphery of the recess 11 is enlarged so that the rear end part of the door guard bar 9 and the recess 11 are surely engaged with the upper movement of the rear end of the bar 9 being restrained. Hence invasion of the rear side door 8 into the compartment side is surely prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
