<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser welding method for welding a tailored blank so that the blank may not be broken, even if molded after welding. <P>SOLUTION: When the tailored blank comprising material containing mainly steel and aluminum having a ratio of greater than 0.015 wt.% is laser welded using at least one laser beam, a gas mixture comprising nitrogen of 30 to 80 vol.% and helium in balance is used to assist the laser beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
