<p>The invention relates to a method of removing branch segments (3) from phyllocacti (1) comprising the steps of placing the phyllocacti (1) in a region in which the concentration of a gaseous agent, specifically ethylene (C>2<H>4<), and the temperature can be controlled and exposing the phyllocacti (1) to a given concentration of the gaseous agent at a given temperature for a given duration of time; where said concentration, temperature and duration of time falls within given predetermined ranges of concentration, temperature and duration of time chosen according to specifically desired effects of the exposure on the branches of the phyllocacti.</p> |
