POLYMORPHISMS IN THE EQUINE TNF-ALPHA GENE

The present invention relates to an in vitro method for diagnosing or detecting a predisposition of an equine subject (particularly horses) to a condition at least partially characterised by inappropriate inflammation. The method involves examining the TNF-∝gene, and regulatory elements thereof, derived from an equine subject of interest to detect the presence of a genetic polymorphism or mutation associated with the condition.
