A method for viewing a selected section of an image on a viewer where a currently displayed section is being viewed, the image is stored in memory and has a predetermined size and the viewer accommodates images smaller than the predetermined size. The method includes the following steps. First, dividing the image into a predetermined number of chunks (12), then, storing each of the predetermined number of chunks in different referenced locations (14). Next, determining the location of the selected section (18) and creating a null bitmap, equal in size to the viewer, for the selected section. Then, the invention determines the parts of the currently displayed section that are relevant to the selected section and calls the parts of the currently displayed section into the bitmap. Next, the invention determines the chunks adjacent to the parts of the currently displayed section and calls the relevant parts of the adjacent chunks into the bitmap (22). Finally, the bitmap is displayed on the viewer. |
