PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dehydrating sludge to lower the water content of cake by forming rigid coagulated floc. SOLUTION: The method for dehydrating the sludge comprises adding oleic acid to the organic sludge, then adding an organic polymeric flocculant to the sludge, and mechanically dehydrating the sludge. The oleic acid is added at 100 to 5,000 ppm to the sludge and known organic polymeric flocculants are usable as the organic polymeric flocculant and can be used in a range of from 0.1 to 5.0wt% per solid of the sludge. A known dehydrating machine, for example, a centrifugal dehydrator, can be used for dehydration. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
