<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric converter element that is low in cost and superior in conversion efficiency, and a solar cell. <P>SOLUTION: This is a photoelectric converter element that uses an oxide semiconductor particulate sensitized by a methine dye as expressed by a general formula (1) in figure 1. In this general formula (1), Ar expresses an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic ring that may have a substituted group. A1, A2, and A3 express each independently hydrogen atom or a substituted group. R1 and R2 expresses hydrogen atom or a substituted group. X expresses an aromatic hydrocarbon residue that may have a substituted group and a heterocyclic residue that may have a substituted group. n shows an integer 0-4. When n is 2 or more and A1 and A2 exists in plural pieces, each of A1 and each of A2 show the above group that may be mutually same or different.
