1,131,158. Automatic control of temperature for sintering apparatus. KNAPSACK A. G. March 29, 1967 [April 1, 1966], No. 14306/67. Addition to 1, 074, 841. Heading G3R. In a sintering grate as described in Specification 1, 074, 841 wherein the temperature normally varies over a range defined by an upper and a lower limit means are provided to return the temperature of the grate to within these limits whenever the temperature tends to exceed the limits. The temperature under the grate is detected by radiation responsive devices whereby a control means 1 produces a control impulse when the temperature exceeds the upper limit. This pulse, by way of a switching device 3 causes a reversible motor 7 to operate to close a valve 8 thereby to reduce the quantity of combustion gas and air, or to increase the grate speed, so as return the temperature to normal. When the normal temperature is reached the control means 1 produces a further pulse which by way of a switching device 4 causes the motor 7 to run so as to return the valve 8 to its normal position. Should the grate temperature drop below the lower limit a control means 2 becomes effective to control the motor 7 in a manner oppositely to that just described. The temperature detectors may be arranged in pairs one behind the other in the forward direction of the grate, the control being effected by one or the other of the upper limit detectors and by one and the other of the lower limit detectors.
|
