PURPOSE: Provided is a pharmaceutical composition for improving blood circulation containing Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis extract, as an active ingredient. The extract of Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis inhibits the activity of elastase, maintains the elasticity of blood vessels, inhibits the activity of NO(nitric oxide), and treats the damage of blood vessels to make blood circulation smooth. It also activates u-PA and inhibits PAI-1 to dissolve thrombus. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for improving blood circulation is characterized by containing the crude extract of Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis, as an active ingredient, wherein one of water, ethanol, methanol or their mixture is used as an extract solvent.
