PURPOSE: A method for disposing a parity sector of an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) is provided to dispose a parity sector on a track where a data sector exists if an ECC error is generated in the data sector, thereby using the parity sector when recovering the error. CONSTITUTION: A disk(100) consists of plural tracks(TR0,TR1...,TRN) where servo sectors and data sectors are alternatively disposed, and a parity sector used when an unrecoverable ECC error is generated. If the unrecoverable ECC error is generated while reading data owing to a hard defect on the disk(100), the parity sector is disposed on at least one of the sectors on a track where a data sector having the ECC error exists, to compensate for the data sector, and the parity sector is replaced for the data sector to recover the ECC error.
