PURPOSE: A control unit for a fluorescent lamp and a scanning device using the same are provided to lengthen a lifetime of the fluorescent lamp by controlling variably the emitting amount of the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION: A control unit for a fluorescent lamp includes a feedback portion(220), a control portion(200), and a driving portion(210). The feedback portion(220) detects a voltage applied to a fluorescent lamp and outputs the detected voltage as a feedback signal. The control portion(200) receives the feedback signal from the feedback portion(220) to control the emitting amount of the fluorescent lamp. The control portion(200) outputs a control signal to control the voltage applied to the fluorescent lamp according to a light control signal. The driving portion(210) applies a variable AC voltage to the fluorescent lamp according to the control signal of the control portion(200).
