The wire fastener which can be inserted into a metal mesh forming a sealing collar for an oven door is twisted to form a diamond-shaped head (26) which is inserted into an aperture in the door. This is connected to two horizontal loops (21, 22) and a helical screw (27). This can be screwed into the metal mesh. An independent claim is included for a sealing collar for an oven door comprising a tubular sleeve of metal mesh which is fastened together using fasteners as described above and then covered by braiding.
