PURPOSE: A castable block comprising low thermal conductivity materials is provided to protect skid pipes in a hot mill reheating furnace, reduce energy used for heating furnace and prevent the damage of skid pipe from thermal change. CONSTITUTION: The castable block is characterized by containing heat insulating materials comprising 18-22wt.% of mullite ceramic fiber, 5-12wt.% of alumina cement, 10-15wt.% of CaCO3 and the balance of alumina, several anchors(31) inside the heat insulating materials wherein at least two of anchor belts(32) at regular intervals. The heat insulating materials are formed in a cylindrical shape. The anchors, being 2/3 of thickness of castable block in length, are set the inside of the heat insulating materials, and the anchor belts are placed along the length of the heat insulating materials.
