A burner generating hot gasses, e.g. for a gas turbine, has the fuel and air ducted into the combustion chamber (212), or into a mixing chamber (211). Some of the burnt gasses from the burner are recirculated by jets (220) in the sides of the burner to mix with the fuel prior to combustion. The operation of the burner reduces thermo-acoustic vibrations and produces a more controlled combustion.
