PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic pigment coated with an alkali metal salt of crosslinkable polyacrylic acid of which the surface is uniformly coated by polymerizing the alkali metal salt of crosslinkable polyacrylic acid, a method of manufacturing the pigment and a cosmetic containing the same. SOLUTION: The inorganic pigment coated with the alkali metal salt of the crosslinkable polyacrylic acid is obtained by dissolving a sorbitan fatty acid ester in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, then dispersing an inorganic pigment and bringing about an inverse phase suspension polymerization by dripping thereto an acrylic acid aqueous solution partially neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide containing a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator. The inorganic pigment coated with the alkali metal salt of the crosslinkable polyacrylic acid thus obtained is blended to the cosmetic. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
